Selective Service Registration. If you are a male at least 18 years old, but not

yet 26 years old, and required according to the Military Selective Service Act to

register with the Selective Service System, the INS will help you register. When

your signed application is filed and accepted by the INS, we will transmit your

name, current address, Social Security number, date of birth and the date you

filed the application to the Selective Service to record your registration as of the

filing date. If the INS does not accept your application, and if still so required,

you are responsible to register with the Selective Service by other means,

provided you are under 26 years of age. If you have already registered, the

Selective Service will check its records to avoid any duplication. (Note: men

18 through 25 years old, who are applying for student financial aid,

government employment or job training benefits should register directly

with the Selective Service or such benefits may be denied. Men can register

at a local post office or on the Internet at http://www.sss.gov).

Form I-94, Arrival Departure Record). See How Do I Get an Arrival-Departure Record? for more information.

Talsan, this should be in your possession, but if not, BYUI’s international student office may be holding this—I really think though this is a document you had with you for crossing as a student.

NOTE: You legitimately entered the United States as a student.  You were not asked at the border if you had been married on your trip, and so your entrance is legitimate.  Remember this should they question you concerning the matter.  It is also true that there is no immigration law on record to defend the “marriage is intent of residency”.  It is only an immigration traditional position that still holds.  I doubt they’ll make any trouble for you over it anyhow.

Fingerprinting

$25

I think this is the fee currently for fingerprinting.

This part is usually performed more locally and there is probably a place in Idaho Falls for it.

Total

$460

Other

I-131, Application for Travel Document, if you need to travel outside the United States while your application is processed

$110

This is for when you’re traveling outside the US while waiting for residency.

  1. Looking over it, I’d recommend applying for a fee waiver (to waive the $255 and $120 fees). You’d have to produce some information about your financial situation, but I think your circumstance could apply—it’d be easier with the baby already born, but you can still at least mention the potential mouth to feed in the near future.

Please note that there are certain eligibility requirements for using Form I-485 (Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status). Forms are available by calling 1-800-870-3676, or by submitting a request through our forms by mail system. For further information on filing fees, please see USCIS filing fees, fee waiver request procedures, and the USCIS fee waiver policy memo.
